The vision from God was given to Pastors Olayemi and Olubukola Abass in 1992 who decided to “Run with the Vision and write it down”; A vision driven by educational and societal factors, rather than the economics. VHSS seeks to provide affordable quality education and produce children who will combine wisdom, knowledge and understanding with character.
We set out to fulfill the vision in 2008 after acquiring an acre of land at the remotely serene but conducive town of Iledu off Araromi-Ale in Badagry Local Government, Lagos. Construction works commenced in April 2008 while on the 27th October, 2008, teaching and learning commenced at Crèche, Kindergarten, Nursery, Primary ( Basic 1 to 4) and Secondary (Basic 7, 8 and SSS1). Two blocks of five classrooms block of classes with 8 toilets were built.
Today, VHSS boast of 25 rooms covering classrooms, Laboratories/preparatory rooms(Physics, Chemistry and Biology), Home Economics Room, Basic Technology Workshop, Fine Arts Room, Handicraft Room, ICT Room, Library, Sick Bay, Indoor Game Room, Principal’s Office, Assistant Head Teacher’s Office, Staff Rooms, Bursary/Store, General Administration Office and Conference Room, and 16 Toilets in secondary school alone while our primary section has 20 rooms covering ITC room, standard library, sick bay, exhibition room and 9 Toilets.
VHSS had produced four sets of SSS graduates some of whom are studying Medicine, amongst other courses in Nigerian and foreign universities and polytechnics. We have embarked on a mission of training children with godly virtues who can also compete favourably with their peers academically. We have over the years maintained a conducive and decent learning and teaching environment for students and staff alike. Education is a capital intensive project and there is the need for private schools to continue to bridge the gap between demand and supply as governments at all levels cannot do alone. We are resolutely committed to affordable education for all hence VHS maintained the same school fees for all classes for five years (2008 to 2013).
We have a dynamic Parents-Teachers Forum that is positioned to influence positive growth and enhance management performance. The stability in our workforce also improved quality and enhanced performance measurement, assessment and review, as teachers start and finish the classes with students up to the point of external examinations. Our staffs are also encouraged to undertake further studies and training programmed for capacity development.
The school has been writing WAEC exam since 2018 and our result has been improving yearly.
VHSS is effectively and efficiently run under the leadership of Pastor Mrs. Olubukola Abass-Alesinloye, a graduate of English and Education of 25 years’ experience, including Ffederal Government Schools in Abuja for 14 years.
